By a Thread
By a Thread employs a technique of unweaving to depict critically endangered native animals in a state of disappearance, leaving ghostly imagery on the warp threads.
Inspired by the captive breeding and species recovery programs of Zoos Victoria, the images are drawn from the zoo’s archive, showcasing some of Australia’s most endangered species. The ten works exhibited in Listed are part of the larger By a Thread series, with each piece highlighting an individual animal selected to represent a specific species.
